On DSTV Decoders / Receivers
On any small-dish system
(such as DSTV, Vivid & others using the IS or PAS 10 satellite)
Hope Channel is a Christian TV station offering a wider variety of programs than most, with something for everyone and is and safe for your family to watch. It offers programs on health, food preparation, spirituality, adventure, missions, overcoming addictions, etc. Also programs for children, juniors, teenagers and parents. Setup instructions for DSTV Decoders
How to receive Hope Channel on Multichoice /DSTV* Decoders Dsd660,720i, 910 and upwards.
[This procedure may not work with the PVR models]
Using your Remote Control:
- Press “MENU” go to “Advanced Options” and press OK.
- Go to “Dish Installation” and press OK.
- Enter PIN Code “9 9 4 9”.
- On “Dish Installation” menu, go to Network 2.
- Use right arrow to select “Other” menu. Press OK
- Check that Satellite Name is IS (or PAS) 7/10
- Go to FREQUENCY (line 6) & press OK. Enter 12722, then press OK
- Check that the Symbol Rate is 26652.
- Go to “FEC” and use right arrow to change to ½.
- If the Polarity is “Vertical”, do not change it.
- Go to “Accept displayed values…”, and press OK
- Dish Installation menu should display
- Go to “Scan all networks”. Press OK. Scanning may take several minutes. Wait till new screen displays.
- Press “TV” button and move down to “Public IS (or PAS) 7/10” and press “OK”.
- Press P+ or P- until you find “Hope” (usually from Channel 20 - 23)
- To return to DSTV, press “TV” button and select DSTV.
- Remember, the “TV” button enables you to switch between the networks. So to go to Hope when in DSTV, follow steps 14 & 15 above.:

Parental Control is strongly advised for most DSTV and/or other programs. (Under MENU). The initial code is 1234. After setting up Parental Control, Hope Channel may be unlocked once by the parent by going to the channel and using the access code. It will remain unlocked thereafter.

What to try if your decoder / receiver does not pick up HOPE CHANNEL
ALTERNATIVES – Please try one at a time and check for success before proceeding to the next one.
1 [Follow steps 1 - 3 above, and select Home Network} On Home Network, try changing ONLY the LNB Hi Frequency to 10600, then “Accept displayed values” and press EXIT. On the Dish Installation menu, "Scan all networks" (Steps 14-16) and check for success.
2 If no success, go to the Dish Installation menu and “Reset to Factory Defaults” which will erase any changes you have made. Repeat the entire Setup Procedure above and the above alternatives you selected (if any) again.
3 If you need to talk to someone, call our Help Line at the number below.
You may need to discuss with your technician the following:
A, Check the age of the LNB on the dish. It may need replacing if 2 years or older. [A S/N ratio of 0.3 - 0.4 dB is needed] Perhaps borrow another LNB to test.
B. Get your installer to re-tune the dish to get the strongest possible signal on IS--10. The LNB offset angle is very important and must be carefully set.
C. Get a 90cm dish if you do not have one.
DSTV Reception Problems

On Vivid or other Decoders / Receivers
If you use a small (preferably 90cm) dish and LNB (as for DSTV), Hope Channel may be received on a (FTA) Free-to-Air digital receiver using the parameters below:
Satellite: IS (PAS)-10 Ku-band:
Frequency: 12.722 Ghz, Polarization: Vertical, Symbol rate: 26652 Msps, FEC: ½

Program schedules are on www.hopetv.org [Select Schedules, and then Hope Channel International. The time given is GMT or UST. Add 2 hours to get SA time.
