Watch us on the small-dish satellite system all over sub-Saharan Africa !

The Satellite is IS-10 (PAS-10).   Service is 24 hours a day, every day!

Equipment Needed

If you don't have any satellite equipment, ask your nearest satellite installer to quote you for a FTA Receiver (free-to-air, not scrambled or encrypted) broadcasts, which is DVB and MPeg2 compliant and a small dish.   We do not recommend DSTV receivers for this purpose.

If you have satellite equipment,

Receiver / Decoder

Virtually any type of digital receiver may be used, which is capable of receiving Free-To-Air broadcasts.

If you share a dish with other viewers (complexes, flats, apartments, holiday homes, etc)
you may not be able to receive the Hope Channel, unless the owner enables the network to receive our broadcasts.    Click here for Guide for Complexes and Apartments, which may be printed out.

FOR ENGLISH BROADCASTS
The parameters you will need are:

IS (PAS)-10 Satellite  (Vivid Bouquet), on the Ku-band
Frequency: 12.722 Ghz
Polarization: Vertical
Symbol rate: 26652
FEC: ½

Vivid users We are on Channel 6.   You will need a Smartcard, but need not subscribe to Vivid service.

DSTV (Multichoice) users - will require a smartcard but need not subscribe.
Please note that only the later models of DSTV decoders are able to receive Hope Channel, such as models DSD660,720i, 910 or Dual, but not the PVR model.

We do NOT recommend buying a DSTV decoder, if you don't have a decoder, as they are inclined to lose the Hope Channel settings every time DSTV update the software.

>> Instructions for DSTV users (easy to print)

Note for DSTV viewers in East & West Africa - you will not be able to view Hope Channel unless your dish is pointed towards the IS-10 satellite.

All other receivers
Please set your receiver to the parameters given above.

As the smaller dishes are affected by bad weather, we advise that you purchase a Ku-band dish with a diameter of at least 90cm.   The Indian Ocean islands will need 1.2m

Ku-band LNBF: Digital LNBF, suitable for Ku-band: Linear, dual frequency, S/N ratio 0.8dB or better. L.O. stability +/- 1 MHz
